The sides last met in 2016 in the CHAN tournament for domestically-based players only. Ivory Coast won 3-0.

Ivory Coast Form

Ivory Coast qualified for the 2021 AFCON after topping their group.

A fine 3-0 win in Niger was following by sealing qualification with a 3-1 win against Ethiopia. A 2-1 friendly victory against Burkina Faso followed before a 0-0 draw in Ghana completed the off-season international break.

In their last match, the Elephants could only draw 0-0 away at a solid Mozambique side. It was a disappointing performance by Ivory Coast after they failed to create enough meaningful opportunities.
