This clash is between two sides who can no longer make the World Cup but will be eager to finish on a high. Lesotho have been very poor of late, so I am leaning towards a Zimbabwe win to nil.

Lesotho have two wins, three draws and four defeats in their nine World Cup qualifiers. They are in fifth place in Group C, four points ahead of their opponents but can no longer qualify for the showpiece even in 2026.

While Lesotho have achieved some positive results, they were never going to challenge consistently enough to get a top two finish in this group. Their recent form is also quite poor.

Lesotho have lost four of their last five matches to nil and lost all five. In terms of World Cup qualifiers, they lost 3-0 to South Africa and 4-0 to Benin in September this year. Last week, Lesotho were beaten 2-1 by Nigeria.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe are winless in their nine World Cup qualifying matches to date. They have five draws and four defeats, leaving them on five points.

While Zimbabwe were never really expected to challenge for qualification, they have taken some crucial points off big teams in this campaign. That in itself will be positive for the team.

In September, Zimbabwe lost 1-0 in Benin before suffering the same scoreline a week later at home to Rwanda. However, on Friday last week, Zimbabwe opened the group up wide with a stunning 0-0 draw against South Africa.

For about 30 minutes Zimbabwe played with 10 men before both sides were reduced to a man down. Yet, they held the in-form Bafana Bafana who are not under immense pressure in second place.
