Malawi vs Mozambique Predictions

Malawi have been struggling of late. Mozambique got a good result in their first qualifier and get to play this match as a neutral venue instead of in Malawi. I am tipping a win for Mozambique.

Head to Head

Mozambique hold a 2-1 advantage over Malawi across their six previous meetings with three draws.

These sides met in the COSAFA Cup earlier this year as Mozambique won 2-0.

Malawi Form

After strong performance to win 1-0 in South Sudan and 1-0 against Uganda, Malawi qualified for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Malawi played in the 2021 COSAFA Cup in South Africa but drew two and lost two of their four matches. They drew 2-2 with Zimbabwe, lost 2-0 to Mozambique, drew 1-1 with Namibia and were beaten 2-1 by Senegal.

The Cranes began their World Cup qualification campaign with a 2-0 loss in Cameroon after conceding twice in the first 22 minutes.

The coach has omitted midfielders Rafiq Namwera and Vitumbiko Kumwenda from the squad. Winger Yamikani Chester returned after injury and played the full 90 minutes in the last match.

Mozambique Form

Mozambique have a poor 2021 AFCON qualification campaign as they lost four of their six matches. They finished bottom of their group.

Os Mambas competed in the 2021 COSAFA Cup and finished four after losing 3-0 to South Africa in the semi-finals. They drew 1-1 against Eswatini in the third place playoff but lost on penalties.

Mozambique began their 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers with a very credible 0-0 draw against Ivory Coast.
