Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates Predictions

I see Pirates bouncing back to win this match. Chiefs are in a slump and have a poor recent record in this fixture. I see a narrow win to zero.

Key Stats – Bucs Look Like Favourites

  • Orlando Pirates have won 9 of their last 12 matches.
  • Orlando Pirates have kept 8 clean sheets in their last 11 matches.
  • Kaizer Chiefs have lost 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Kaizer Chiefs have lost 5 of their last 6 matches vs Orlando Pirates.

Head to Head – Pirates Dominate of Late

In 103 previous meetings, Pirates have a 43-32 lead with 28 draws.

Pirates had won five straight clashes before Chiefs’ 2-1 win in the Nedbank Cup in May 2025.

Three Losses in Last Four – Chiefs Going Through Slump

Chiefs have lost three of their last four matches. They had previously been very hard to beat with just one loss in 15 matches across all competitions.

A 1-0 home CAF win over Zesco United made it four straight 1-0 victories. They lost 2-1 away to Stellenbosch in the Nedbank Cup before a 2-1 home win over Al Masry in the CAF Confederations Cup.

A 2-1 loss in Egypt at Zamalek saw them eliminated from CAF action. Their dip continued with a 2-1 home loss to Stellenbosch in the PSL in midweek despite putting up 1.97 xG.

Two Key Defeats in a Row – Pirates Need a Victory

Pirates were flying high before two damaging losses in a row. They had won 12 of their previous 14 league matches with two domestic cups secured before those defeats.

A 4-1 Nedbank Cup win vs TTM was followed by a 3-0 Betway Premiership victory over Marumo Gallants. The Sea Robbers lost 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns in a key match as they lead at the top of the PSL was cut.

Their last match saw a frustrating 0-0 home draw vs Casric Stars in the Nedbank Cup. Pirates lost on penalties to lose out on a shot at a domestic cup treble.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Kaizer Chiefs (4-2-3-1): Petersen; Monyane, Kwinika, Miguel, McCarthy; Maboe, Ndlovu; Lilepo, Chislett, Mmodi; Da Silva.

Chiefs’ co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalili Ben Youssef could be without defender Inacio Miguel once again. Rushwin Dortley and Reeve Frosler are absent in defence.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa could return to boost the engine room. Ethan Chislett made his long-awaited debut in midweek and will hope to start in the number ten role.

Orlando Pirates (4-2-3-1): Chaine; Van Rooyen, Seema, Sibisi, Hotto; Makhaula, Nemjatela; Moremi, Appollis, Mofokeng; Makgopa.

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has Evidence Makgopa available up front after injury. Defenders Thabiso Lebitso and Tapelo Xoki are still out injured.

Thalente Mbatha is set to shake off a knock to play some part in midfield. Sipho Mbule will undergo a late fitness test to determine his involvement.
