A 2-0 home loss to Golden Arrows saw Magesi put up 17 shots. With new coach Allan Freese in charge, they fought hard for a 1-1 draw away at Stellenbosch having trailed 1-0.

One Loss in Seven – Polokwane Are Draw Specialists


Polokwane have lost just once in their last seven league matches (four draws, two wins). They sit seventh in the PSL table but it’s four losses in eight away PSL fixtures with just five goals scored.

A 2-1 win at Stellenbosch before the AFCON break was followed by a 1-0 loss at Durban City. A late goal conceded saw a 2-2 home draw vs struggling Orbit College. 

Polokwane were outshot 27-11 with ten men in a 2-1 home loss to AmaZulu in the Nedbank Cup. Their last match saw a dull 0-0 home draw vs Siwelele.

Predicted Lineups & Team News


Magesi (4-5-1): Chipezeze; Ndlozi, Buthelezi, Makgopa, J. Mokone; Raphadu, Darpoh, Mtshali, Vandala, Chirambadare; Sibanyoni. 

Kgomotso Mosadi is suspended in attack. Fellow forward Thabang Sibanyoni is an injury doubt. 

Siyabonga Ndlozi is set to play at right back after his arrival on loan from Orlando Pirates. Delano Abrahams is out injured at fullback. 

Polokwane City (4-2-3-1): Mathebula; Matuludi, Mvundlela, Nkaki, Nkwe; Kambala, Maphangule; Sebone, Mnguni, Tshabalala; Tshikweta.

Lindokuhle Mathebula could start in goal once again. Brian Bwire may have to settle for a place on the bench. 

Mpho Mvundlela may keep his place in defence. Thabelo Tshikweta will lead the line after three goals in his first six outings for the club.
