Kaizer Chiefs lost 1-0 away to Richards Bay on Tuesday. Below are the player ratings for the Chiefs starting XI and subs. Amakhosi have lost five of their last six matches in all competitions.

STARTING XI:

Bruce Bvuma: 8 - Man of the Match

The goalkeeper looked rusty against Pirates, but he made several fine saves in this match to keep the score down.

Dillan Solomons: 5

The right back ran hard and got forward plenty, but his defending was a constant worry. Chiefs looked exposed down his side and when he was tasked with defending crosses.

Aden McCarthy: 6

The young defender gave his all for the cause. He should have scored in the first half.

Bradley Cross: 5

The versatile defender came into the XI at the last moment after Inacio Miguel was injured in the warm-up. He struggled in the match and was at fault for the goal.

Nkanyiso Shinga: 4

Whilst full of energy and effort, Shinga looked a long way below the standard required at Kaizer Chiefs.

Lebohang Maboe: 6

The midfielder showed flashes of class, but he looked tired and overplayed. The lack of quality around him in the engine room is alarming.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa: 5

The captain tried hard, made some tackles and gave the ball away regularly. It was a rusty display from "Ox" after several weeks out injured.

Gaston Sirino: 6

One fine cross from a set-piece should have led to a goal. He missed a header chance himself at the back post.

Ethan Chislett: 5

He delivered one nice cross and set up two chances overall. With three ground duels won, he put himself about.

Asanele Velebayi: 5

The young winger got nothing out of the Richards Bay right back. This match showed his inexperience and his lack of regular minutes in recent months.

Flavio Da Silva: 5

The big striker had little impact on the match against the physicality of the Richards Bay centre backs.

SUBSTITUTES:

Glodi Lilepo: 5

The Congolese forward looked totally devoid of confidence or form. He did not help to turn around the results.

Mduduzi Shabalala: 5

He worked hard for the cause from a slightly wider role. His confidence is at rock-bottom after recent missed chances.

Luke Baartman: 5

The young striker was used on the wing once again. He toiled hard but gave the ball away too often.

Nkosingiphile Ngcobo: 5

"Mshini" got on the ball and tried to get Chiefs playing. However, his lack of athleticism was clear and he gave the ball away with some risky passes.

Ashley Du Preez: 5

The speed merchant touches the ball eight times. He could not add the required quality or threat to help Chiefs find an equaliser.
