Atl. Madrid vs Club Brugge KV

With the tie stuck at 3-3 this is anyone’s game. Madrid beat Barca 4-0 at home in the Cup and trounced Espanyol 4-2 at home in La Liga on the weekend, so they are strong in front of their own fans. Club Brugge have won six and drawn one of their last eight games, so they’re on a hot streak.

Madrid have won seven of their last 10 home games, while Brugge are 50/50 on the road. This is edging towards Madrid to take the tie, but it’s hard to call. One thing looks certain after the first leg and the form of both sides is that this should be another goal bonanza.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Olympiacos Piraeus

As Champions League games go, this should be a doddle for Bayer Leverkusen. Sitting 2-0 up after the first leg, they’ve won six of their last eight matches, including one draw. They’ve also scored three goals in four of their last seven matches, so Olympiacos are going to be under attack, which will make them vulnerable at the back as they push forward looking for goals.

Olympiacos have lost two and drawn one of their last four matches, failing to score in three of those matches. Bayer Leverkusen have won their last four home games in a row, but Olympiacos haven’t lost on the road in 10 games. This might be a dull game if Leverkusen play it tight to protect their lead, but I see them edging a win with both sides scoring.

Inter vs Bodo/Glimt

Inter are under the pump after losing away to Bodo 3-1. Bodo have been the surprise side of the tournament having also turned Man City over 3-1 at home in the group stage. Both sides are on a good run of form, having each picked up eight wins in their last 10 matches.

Inter’s home form is very strong, but Bodo are also good on the road, scoring 23 times in their last 10 games. Inter might take it with their home crowd behind them, but I don’t see Bodo sitting on their lead: this is stacking up as a match full of goals.

Newcastle vs Qarabag

The home side have eight squad members on the treatment table, including Bruno Guimaraes and Schar, and with a 6-1 lead in the tie after a superb away victory, I can’t see them not making it through to the Round of 16.

Qarabag are strong way from home, and with Newcastle likely to leave some of their first-choice players on the bench at the start, I can picture a narrow Qarabag win, but without many goals for the crowd to cheer.

Verdict

UEFA Champions League

Atl. Madrid are likely to edge Club Brugge at home, Bayer Leverkusen to see off Olympiacos.

Inter to battle to beat out Bodo, while Newcastle are likely to take it easy against Qarabag.
