Champions League predictions - 26 November 2025, Round 5

Editor
Last updated: 4 hours ago

As the football season kicks off, Copenhagen is poised for a promising start with an anticipated victory, while Pafos is set to challenge Monaco significantly. PSG is predicted to edge out Spurs in a tight match, and Sporting aims to outplay Club Brugge at home in Lisbon. The betting odds suggest Monaco goals will keep the score under 2.5, PSG's performance will likely be a second-half effort to secure victory, and Sporting is favored to win with both teams expected to score. These elements together set the stage for an intriguing lineup of matches.

FC Copenhagen vs Kairat Almaty

Copenhagen are coming into this clash on the back of home league wins over Fredericia and Brøndby and a narrow slip away to Vejle, so their domestic form is at least moving in the right direction. Europe has been a different story, as they’ve taken just one point from four league-phase games, drawing with Leverkusen before losing to Qarabağ, Dortmund and Tottenham by an aggregate 12–4, which leaves them in the bottom cluster of the table.

Kairat sit one spot below them in 35th place, also winless in the league phase and scarred by heavy defeats to Sporting (4–1), Real Madrid (5–0) and Inter, with only a goalless home draw against Pafos to show for their efforts. With both sides under pressure this feels like Copenhagen’s best opening yet, and I’m leaning towards the Danes finally chalking up a first Champions League win.

Pafos vs Monaco

Pafos ride into this one on a real high: they stunned Villarreal 1–0 on the last matchday to move to five points from four games, and around that they’ve put together a strong domestic run with wins over AEK Larnaca, AEL Limassol and Aris, with just two defeats in nine competitive outings, although they are light on goals.

Monaco are also on five points in the league phase after a wild 4–1 loss at Club Brugge was followed by draws with Manchester City and Spurs and a tight away win at Bodø/Glimt. The problem is Ligue 1 form: three straight defeats, and conceding four to both Lens and Rennes in their last two matches has seriously drained their confidence.

On pure momentum you could easily make a case for Pafos, but Monaco’s higher ceiling and European experience just about nudge me towards a narrow Monaco verdict in what looks a cagey, low-scoring affair.

PSG vs Tottenham

PSG look every inch defending European champions right now: in the league phase they’ve thrashed Atalanta 4–0, won at Barcelona and sit fifth in the overall table with three wins from four, the only blemish being that tight 2–1 defeat to Bayern in Paris.

Add in Ligue 1 victories over Nice, Lyon and Le Havre and Luis Enrique’s side come into this with real momentum. Spurs are a different story: domestically they’ve taken just one point from their last three league games, including the 4–1 derby mauling at Arsenal that sparked some soul-searching for Thomas Frank.

Yet in Europe they’ve been excellent – unbeaten with wins over Villarreal and a 4–0 demolition of Copenhagen plus draws at Bodø/Glimt and Monaco, enough for 10th place on eight points. Given PSG’s home strength and Spurs’ wobble whenever they’re asked to defend deep for long spells, this feels like one where the Parisians eventually find a way, even if Tottenham’s cutting edge means it might not be comfortable.

Sporting CP vs Club Brugge KV

Sporting have quietly put together a very slick run: seven wins in their last eight in all competitions, including comfortable Liga victories over Moreirense, Estoril, Alverca, Tondela and Santa Clara, plus that 4–1 dismantling of Kairat, with the only stumble a 2–1 defeat away to Napoli.

That return gives them seven points from four games and leaves them nicely wedged in mid-table in the league phase. Club Brugge have had a much wilder ride: a brutal 4–0 loss at Bayern, a 4–1 hammering of Monaco and a thrilling 3–3 draw with Barcelona, while in Belgium they’ve won seven of their last nine and come into the match after a tight defeat at Anderlecht followed by a ‘reset’ with a 1-0 win over Charleroi.

They did beat Sporting 2–1 in Lisbon in last season’s league phase, but that’s one of only two Belgian victories in their last 12 trips to Portugal, which tilts this towards a confident, attack-minded Sporting side edging what should be a very watchable game.

Verdict

Copenhagen to get their season underway with a first win, while Pafos to make Monaco work hard for their win.

PSG to sneak home against Spurs, while Sporting to nip Club Brugge in the bud in Lisbon.
