Portugal have a 9-0 advantage against Hungary with 4 draws in 13 matches.

They last met in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Portugal winning 3-0 in Lisbon and 1-0 in Budapest.

Hungary Form

Hungary are undefeated in their last 11 matches. They did well in the UEFA Nations League, finishing ahead of Russia, Serbia and Turkey to top Group 3 in League B.

The Magyars started the World Cup qualifiers with a 3-3 draw against Poland when they led 2-0. Hungary bounced back with a 3-0 win in San Marino and 4-1 win in Andorra.

Willi Ruttensteiner’s side have played two friendlies to prepare for Euro 2020. They won 1-0 against Cyprus with András Schäfer on target and Nemanja Nikolics seeing a late penalty saved.

Hungary’s last match was a 0-0 draw against Republic of Ireland. They dominated with 60% possession and 17-6 shots but couldn’t find a breakthrough in Budapest.

Hungary Squad & Team News

Goalkeepers: Péter Gulácsi (vice-captain), Dénes Dibusz, Ádám Bogdán
Defenders: Ádám Lang, Ákos Kecskés, Attila Szalai, Attila Fiola, Willi Orbán, Gergő Lovrencsics, Endre Botka, Bendegúz Bolla
Midfielders: Loïc Négo, Ádám Nagy, Tamás Cseri, András Schäfer, László Kleinheisler, Dániel Gazdag, Dávid Sigér
Forwards: Ádám Szalai (captain), Filip Holender, Roland Varga, Kevin Varga, Roland Sallai, Nemanja Nikolić, Szabolcs Schön, János Hahn

Defender Szilveszter Hangya, midfielder Zsolt Kalmár and attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszla miss out due to injury.

Goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi and centre back Willi Orbán have plenty of experience in the Bundesliga. Orban should partner Attila Szalai and Ádám Lang in central defence.

Bristol City’s Ádám Nagy anchors the midfield with Ádám Szalai likely to start in attack after scoring 23 goals in 71 internationals.

Portugal Form

Portugal have won four of their last six matches. The Seleção started their World Cup qualification campaign with a 1-0 win against Azerbaijan.

Fernando Santos’ side then drew 2-2 in Serbia after establishing a 2-0 lead. They won 3-1 in Luxembourg, overturning a 1-0 deficit with Diogo Jota, Cristiano Ronaldo and João Palhinha on target.

Portugal have played two friendlies to get ready for Euro 2020. They drew 0-0 against Spain before a 4-0 win against Israel, Bruno Fernandes scoring twice with Cristiano Ronaldo and João Cancelo on target.

Portugal Squad & Team News
