Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers Predictions - Hardie to hit Scorchers into the top two spots

Editor
Last updated: 10 Jan 2026

The Perth Scorchers enter the match against Adelaide Strikers as favorites due to their strong recent performance, including standout contributions from Aaron Hardie and Mitchell Marsh. Despite the Strikers’ inconsistent form, individual players like Liam Scott and Jamie Overton have shown potential. With Josh Inglis returning for the Scorchers and Alex Carey back for the Strikers, both teams have strengthened their lineups. Ultimately, the Scorchers are expected to win, with Hardie predicted to excel with the bat.

Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers Predictions

The Scorchers have been on a good run of form, while the Strikers have been somewhat inconsistent. The Strikers don't seem to have the firepower to defeat the Scorchers, who are performing well across their squad.
  • Perth Scorchers’ Aaron Hardie scored 94* off 43 balls against the Hurricanes.
  • Perth Scorchers’ Mitchell Marsh has scored 102, 37 & 27 in his last 3 innings.
  • Adelaide Strikers’ Liam Scott (262 runs, ave 65.50) is 5th in the Big Bash runs list.
  • Adelaide Strikers’ Matthew Short has scored 56, 63 & 31 in his last 6 innings.

Head-to-Head

The Scorchers have won three and lost two of their last five Big Bash matches against the Strikers, including the last three wins in a row.

Adelaide Strikers Form

After bouncing back with a win over the Thunder, the Strikers lost to the Hurricanes by 37 runs to slip to their second defeat in three matches.

Liam Scott has been in excellent form with the bat, scoring 33, 49* and 91* in his last three matches. Matthew Short enjoyed a good patch of 56, 63, 19 and 31, but scored just six runs in his next two innings. None of the Strikers have scored above Scott’s strike-rate of 144.75, which has hampered their ability to set sides challenging targets. Chris Lynn scored 22 and 79* in back-to-back matches, but failed in his next three innings.

Jamie Overton has been in incredible form with the ball, taking 3/19, 3/25 and 2/13 in his last three matches. Overton (ave 13.72) and Lloyd Pope (ave 19.36) are joint 8th on the wickets list with 11 wickets each. Pope has taken 4/23, 2/37 and 1/33 in his last three matches.

Perth Scorchers Form

The Scorchers’ three-match winning run ended when they lost to the Renegades by four wickets off the last ball of the match.

Aaron Hardie and Mitchell Marsh have been the backbone of their side’s batting. Ashton Turner scored 99*, 1*, 28 and 12 in his last four matches. Finn Allen scored 79 and 43 in back-to-back matches, but scored just 35 runs in his next three matches.

Cooper Connolly scored 59 & 77 in the first two matches, but added just 41 runs in his next five innings. He has added great value with the ball in the last five matches, with figures of 3/23, 2/26, 1/23, 1/31 and 1/20. Joel Paris is their leading wicket-taker with 11 sticks and has been exceptional in their last five matches, taking 2/22, 2/28, 2/36, 3/22 and 1/7.

Adelaide Strikers vs Perth Scorchers Team News

With the Ashes Series complete, Josh Inglis returns to the Scorchers squad, significantly boosting the already strong batting order. Spinner Ashton Agar is still managing a calf injury, so Luke Holt has been added as a local replacement player. Consequently, Joel Paris (groin) and Corey Rocchiccioli (omitted) have been left out of the squad for Sunday's match.

The Strikers have announced three changes to their squad for Sunday's match. Key among these is the return of Alex Carey, the in-form wicketkeeper, who will take the gloves back from Mackenzie Harvey. Harvey impressed in his stand-in role, notably with an excellent catch against the Hurricanes on Friday. Joining Carey in the squad are Hassan Ali and Cameron Boyce. Making way for the incoming trio are Tabraiz Shamsi, Alex Ross, and Jerrssis Wadia.

Adelaide Strikers (squad): Hassan Ali, Cameron Boyce, Alex Carey, Mackenzie Harvey, Chris Lynn, Harry Manenti, Jamie Overton, Lloyd Pope, Jason Sangha, Liam Scott, Matt Short (c), Henry Thornton, Luke Wood.

Perth Scorchers (squad): Finn Allen, Mahli Beardman, Cooper Connolly, Brody Couch, Laurie Evans, Sam Fanning, Aaron Hardie, Nick Hobson, Luke Holt, Josh Inglis, Mitch Marsh, David Payne, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Turner (c).
