In an exciting IPL encounter, Delhi Capitals battle Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 27, 2026. The Capitals have faltered recently, winning only one of their last five matches. Conversely, the Royal Challengers have shown strong form but will look to avenge their earlier defeat to the Capitals. With players like KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in fine form, expect high scores and strategic plays. Although the Capitals have home advantage, the Royal Challengers are favored due to their balanced squad and effective batting order.

This Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru prediction preview looks ahead to the IPL group match played in India. After winning their opening two matches of the season the Capitals have struggled through their last five matches, picking up just a solitary win. That win saw them down the high-flying Royal Challengers with just one ball to spare.

The Royal Challengers have had an excellent start to the defence of their IPL title, losing just two of their seven matches. The first defeat was the result of an incredible run chase from the Rajasthan Royals’ top order, followed by a frustrating loss to the struggling Capitals off the second-last ball of the match.

Team News

Delhi Capitals: The Capitals’ top six have enjoyed great form with the bat, but they have struggled to contain their opposition batters as they have slipped into a tough battle to make the playoffs.

Possible XI: Pathum Nissanka, KL Rahul, Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel (c), Nitish Rana, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav, T. Natarajan, Mukesh Kumar.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: The Challengers have a well balanced squad and have worked out their best combinations. Jacob Bethell has stepped in to replace the injured Phil Salt, who had scored 46, 78 and 63 in his last five innings.

Possible XI: Rajat Patidar (c), Virat Kohli, Tim David, Jacob Bethell, Romario Shepherd, Josh Hazlewood, Devdutt Padikkal, Jitesh Sharma, Krunal Pandya, Rasikh Salam, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Key Stats

  • Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul is 3rd in the IPL runs list with 357 runs @ 59.5.
  • Delhi Capitals’ Nitish Rana hit 15 boundaries in his 44-ball 91 vs Punjab Kings.
  • Delhi Capitals’ Kuldeep Yadav has taken 2/32 & 2/46 in his last 3 matches.
  • Royal Challengers’ Virat Kohli has scored 32, 50, 49, 19 & 81 in his last 5 knocks.
  • Royal Challengers’ Devdutt Padikkal hit 6 sixes in his 27-ball 55 vs the Titans.
  • Royal Challengers’ Bhuvneshwar Kumar has taken 3/27, 3/26 & 1/31 in his last 3 matches.

Match Analysis

The Royal Challengers may have lost their earlier group match against the Capitals at home, they should be full of confidence coming to the Arun Jaitley Stadium as they have won seven of their last 10 matches at the ground.

The in-form Royal Challengers top-order are likely to cash in on the batting-friendly pitch with its short boundaries and fast outfield. It would take an incredible bowling performance for either side to be limited to under 185, so expect scores well over 185.

Teams are likely to bowl first to capitalise on the evening  dew that always benefits the side chasing. There are plenty of runs in the pitch, with the Capitals smashing 264/2 off their 20 overs against the Punjab Kings on Saturday, with KL Rahul’s unbeaten 152 the backbone of the innings. The Capitals attack was again found wanting in that match, as the Kings pulled off the highest-ever run chase in IPL history by reaching 265/4 with seven balls to spare.

The pitch should offer pacemen some nice pace and bounce, but they just need to miss their line and length slightly to be punished by the opposition batters. Chasing is the better option owing to the dew factor, along with the small boundaries that swallowed 33 sixes in the match between the Capitals and the Punjab Kings.

Match Result

Despite having home ground advantage and scoring well, the Capitals have struggled to restrict their opposition batters, and against a side like the Royal Challengers that can be costly. They did win their earlier group match against the Royal Challengers, but I can’t see Kohli’s kids slipping up again.

Best Delhi Capitals’ Batter

KL Rahul has been in superb form with the bat, scoring 92, 18, 57, 37 and 152* in his last five matches.

Score Over/Under Runs

Virat Kohli is in dominating form with the bat, scoring 328 runs @ 54.7 this season, including three half-centuries in seven innings.

Take Over/Under Wickets

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been in great form with the ball and is joint 6th in the IPL wickets list. He has taken seven wickets in his last three matches.
