Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians Betting Preview, Odds & Predictions

Editor
Last updated: 19 May 2026

The upcoming IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians is pivotal for KKR's playoff ambitions—they must win both remaining matches for any hope. Recent form favors KKR, but Mumbai's bowling remains a concern despite improved batting. Spinners and fast bowlers should thrive at Eden Gardens, where batting first has proven advantageous. Prediction leans toward a KKR win, with key performances expected from Finn Allen (batting) and Kartik Tyagi (bowling). Ryan Rickelton is tipped as Mumbai's standout batter.

This Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians prediction preview looks ahead to the IPL group match played in India. The Knight Riders have a slim chance of making the playoffs, but anything less than wins in both of their last two matches would end their hopes.

After losing seven out of eight matches in a row, Mumbai bounced back with two wins in their last three as they fight to fend off the wooden spoon.

The Knight Riders are fighting bravely to make the playoffs after their awful start to the season. Mumbai’s attempt to secure a record sixth IPL title never got off the ground, but they have found winning form in their last three matches.

Team News

Match Analysis

Matchday in Kolkata is expected to bring with it clear skies and soaring temperatures touching 35°C, along with humidity close to 70%. Batting is likely to be tricky with the ball not coming onto the bat quickly, which can play into the hands of the quick bowlers. With the right approach and stroke selection there are plenty of runs in the track.

Eden Gardens’ big boundaries offer spinners some protection, and the average score this season has been around 165, but sides setting a target will be looking at a score of 200 to give their bowlers some wiggle room.

The side batting first at Edens Gardens in recent times has won six of the last 10 matches, so the captain winning the toss is likely to bat first.

The last match here four days ago saw the Knight Riders post a formidable score of 247/2 off their 20 overs, with their bowlers choking the Titans to a score of just 218/4 off their 20 overs.

Mumbai’s bowlers have struggled to contain opposition top orders and they have been bowling at an economy rate of 10.68 this season, with bowling kingpin Jasprit Bumrah battling to take wickets as opposing batters play him with caution. Their batting has started to find its feet again so while the Knight Riders are the favourites in this match, Mumbai could well push them to the wire.

Result

With five wins in six matches the Knight Riders are the side to back, especially as they have home ground advantage and will go flat out for the win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Best Mumbai Indians Batter

Ryan Rickelton has scored 123*, 37, 83 & 48 in his last five knocks and is my pick to top score for Mumbai.

Score Over/Under Runs

Finn Allen has scored 29, 100*, 18 and 93 in his last four knocks and is worth backing to score over 22 runs against Mumbai.

Take Over/Under Wickets

Kartik Tyagi has taken 2/30, 2/25 and 3/32 in his last four matches and is a good bet to take two or more wickets in the match.
