Last updated: 1 hour ago

In the IPL 2026 clash, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 4th. RCB comes into the game as defending champions, having started their season strong with a comprehensive win, whereas CSK has struggled with injuries and sits at the bottom of the table. The match promises to be a high-scoring affair, with small ground dimensions favoring batsmen. Key players include Virat Kohli for RCB and Ayush Mhatre for CSK, with RCB's Jacob Duffy potentially being the standout bowler.

This Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Chennai Super Kings prediction preview looks ahead to the IPL group match played in India. Defending champions the Royal Challengers got their season off to a powerful start with a huge win over the Sunriders.

The Super Kings were hoping that 2026 would be the season they rose above the Mumbai Indians by winning a record 6th IPL title, but after their first two matches they are bottom of the table with a net run rate of -2.562 and already look strong contenders for the wooden spoon.

Match Analysis

This should be a run-feast on one of the best pitches and smallest grounds in the tournament. The high altitude and small boundaries ensure even mishits carry the ropes, so we should see plenty of sixes, particularly if RCB bat first.

There’s not much in it for the bowlers, especially late in the innings, so bowlers who get through their overs early on and bowl tight are likely to scoop up the most wickets. Against the Sunrisers in their opening match, RCB raced to a winning score of 203/4 off just 15.4 overs, so with the evening dew as a factor to make the bowlers’ job tougher in the second innings tougher it’s essential for the side batting first to post a score over 225.

The ground averages around 15 sixes per match (1 463 in 100 IPL matches), but in 2024 it peaked at 21-plus sixes per match. RCB hit 13 in their win over the Sunrisers, who themselves smashed 12 off their 20 overs.

Betting Markets to Watch

Best Royal Challengers Batter

Virat Kohli has scored 77, 93, 23, 124 and 69* in his last 5 knocks and is the favourite to top-score for RCB.

Best CSK Batter

Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube have all been in the runs, but Ayush Mhatre is in great form, scoring 62, 53 and 73 in his last 4 knocks, so he’s worth backing to top score for the visitors.

RCB Best Bowler

Jacob Duffy (3/22) and Romario Shepherd (3/54) starred with the ball against the Sunriders, but Duffy knocked over 3 of their top four batters so he’s more likely to return the best figures as he has been testing the batters with a tighter line and length.

Total Match Sixes

The small ground combined with the batting talent on offer makes backing over 20 sixes an easy call at Bengaluru. In RCB’s opener at this ground against the Sunrisers the two teams scored a combined 25 sixes.
