This Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Delhi Capitals prediction preview looks ahead to the IPL group match played in India. Royal Challengers have performed magnificently in their 5 matches this season, with their one defeat of the season being down to a brilliant performance by the Rajasthan Royals after the Challengers had put in a strong performance with bat and ball.

The Capitals are in 5th place level with 4 other teams on 4 points, but with just a 50% record they are looking vulnerable against the form sides.

Team News

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Josh Hazlewood has recovered from the hamstring and Achilles problems that sidelined him at the start of the IPL. His workload is being carefully managed and there is a chance he might be rested against the Capitals depending on his match-day strength.

Delhi Capitals: Mitchell Starc’s ongoing recovery from his shoulder and elbow injuries should see him out of action for another match or two, but the Capitals report he should meet up with their squad in the last week of April.

Possible XI: Pathum Nissanka, KL Rahul, Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel (c), David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Auqib Nabi, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi, T Natarajan.

Match Analysis

We’re expecting cloudy but warm conditions throughout the day for the match in Bengaluru, ranging between 22-33°C and with the chance of some brief rain delays. The weather should ensure the pitch plays true and encourages the batters to score freely.

The pitch is usually flat and offering consistent, true bounce, so the side batting first will look to cash in during the power play, although with some swing in the air the batters will need to still select the right balls to hit out at as they look to match the 1st innings average score here of 200-plus.

There should be some early life for the pacemen looking for swing as well as some turn for the spinners, but overall it’s a pitch laced with runs. The small boundary leaves bowlers with little room for error, and any spinner that fails to extract much turn is likely to travel.

The boundary size usually encourages sixes to rain down on the crowd, and with both sides being filled with big-hitters we could be in for a bumper crop of maximums. Last season the Capitals succeeded in chasing down RCB’s below average score of 163 at Bengaluru, with KL Rahul slapping 6 sixes in his 93*.

Betting Markets to Watch

Player Performance
Krunal Pandya has taken 7 wickets in his last 4 matches and is a good bet to be the Royal Challengers’ best bowler.

Score Over/Under Runs

Virat Kohli has scored 69*, 28, 32, 50 & 49 in his 5 IPL innings this season and is worth backing to score over 37 runs. Pathum Nissanka has scored over 40 in 4 of his last 5 innings and is a good call to score 30+ runs against RCB.

Take Over/Under Wickets

Lungi Ngidi is the Capitals’ leading wicket-taker after picking up 3/27, 1/34 and 1/24 in his 1st 3 IPL matches this season and is worth backing to be in the wickets against RCB.
