Middlesex vs Kent Predictions

Kent won their opener against Gloucestershire, with their key batters and bowlers all performing, so I’m backing them to beat battling Middlesex.

  • Kent’s Zak Crawley has scored 54*, 68, 124 & 37 in his last 5 innings.
  • Kent’s Daniel Bell-Drummond has scored 61 & 60 in his last 3 innings.
  • Middlesex’s Kane Williamson has scored 81, 102 & 25 in his last 5 innings.
  • Middlesex’s Ben Geddes scored 51 off 37 balls against Sussex.

Head-to-Head

Kent have won three and lost two of their last five matches against Middlesex.

Middlesex Form

Middlesex suffered their second defeat in their opening two matches of the Vitality Blast when they lost to Glamorgan by five wickets.

Middlesex scratched their way to 124/9 off their 20 overs. Kane Williamson
(25) and Ryan Higgins (21) were the only two batters to reach 20.

Glamorgan raced to the win off 15.3 overs with five wickets in hand. Tom Helm
(3/29) gave the visitors hope when he sliced through the middle-order as Glamorgan were reduced to 40/4 before their lower middle-order took them home.

Middlesex Team News

Left-arm Ireland international quickie Josh Little is likely to make his Middlesex debut in this match, while Joe Cracknell might be brought in to beef up their batting.

Kent Form

Kent got their Vitality Blast season off to a great start by beating Gloucestershire by four runs.

Tawanda Muyeye (42 off 33 balls) and Daniel Bell-Drummond (60 off 38) added 98 for the first wicket inside 11 overs. Joe Denly hammered four sixes in a 24-ball 48* that lifted Ken to 208/3 off their 20 overs.

Gloucestershire chased well but ended up four runs short with seven wickets down. Tom Rogers (2/22, econ 5.50) was the most economical of the Kent bowlers, while Nathan Gilchrist (2/46) picked two key wickets.

Kent Team News

Wes Agar has been brought into the squad in place of George Garrett. England have released Zak Crawley for the start of Kent’s Vitality Blast season. Joey Evison and Jaydn Denly are sidelined with muscular strains, while a back problem will keep Marcus O’Riordan out of action.

Verdict

I am backing Kent to win. I am also backing Zak Crawley to top score for Kent.

Kane Williamson is a good bet to top score for Middlesex.
