England lost the first T20I series and simply must win this game to keep the series alive. The game was shortened due to rain which killed any real contest as it became a slog-fest.

England bowled first with South Africa only batting 7.5 overs. Luke Wood took two early wickets, but the visitors marched to 97 off 7.5 overs.

England were set a target of 69 runs in five overs but could only reach 54-5 before their balls ran out. Jos Buttler hit 25 off 11 balls but five of the top six batsmen failed to reach 10.

South Africa will be pleased to have taken the series lead although I’m unsure how much you can read into a game that last about 12 overs in total.

Batting first after plenty of rain, the Proteas blasted their way to 97 off 7.5 overs. Aiden Markram scored 28 off 14 balls, Dewald Brevis managed 23 off 10 balls while Donovan Ferreira hit 25 off 11.

The bowlers then did the business with Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch each taking two wickets and Kagiso Rabada one. South Africa won the match by 14 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method.
