Pakistan enter their Asian Games campaign in promising form and will be keen to make an immediate statement in their medal pursuit. Hong Kong face a tougher assignment against higher-quality opposition, making Pakistan strong favourites to win.

Hong Kong Form


Hong Kong arrives with some confidence after defeating Oman by 41 runs in their previous match. They recovered from a poor start to post 121 before producing an excellent bowling display to dismiss Oman for just 80.

Hafeez Khan helped rebuild the innings with 33, while Babar Hayat contributed 23 after both openers departed cheaply. Their partnership proved important in giving the bowlers a total they could defend.

Ayush Shukla led the attack with 3/23 from four overs, supported by Mohammad Ghazanfar, who claimed two wickets.

Anshy Rath is a key player after scoring 354 runs in his last 10 matches, while Hayat has also been productive, contributing 232 runs over the same period.

Ehsan Khan could be Hong Kong's biggest bowling threat against Pakistan, having collected 19 wickets in his previous 10 matches. Nasrulla Rana provides further support with 13 wickets from his last nine appearances.

Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin offers a balanced surface, with the hard wicket allowing batters to play their shots freely. Seamers could find extra bounce with the new ball, while spinners should also enjoy some assistance as the match progresses. Conditions have generally favoured chasing teams.
