India's journey to the World Test Championship final begins with a compelling five-match series against England, followed by two Tests against the defending champions South Africa later this year, and a decisive five-Test clash with Australia in early 2027.

India's recent World Test Championship campaign fell short of expectations, ending third on the table. Their shock 3-0 home Test series defeat to New Zealand proved to be the decisive blow in their bid to reach the final.

India are currently touring England, competing for the newly established Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in a five-match Test series taking place between June and August. The hosts currently have the lead, with two matches remaining.

In November 2025, India will welcome defending champions South Africa for a crucial two-match Test series for the Freedom Trophy, where both teams will be aiming to gain an early advantage in the race to the World Test Championship final.

In early 2027, India will host Australia in a vital five-match Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which could prove decisive in determining who advances to the World Test Championship final. It will mark the first full-length home series between the two sides in India since 1992.
