Race 1 – African Wild Dog (3)

Jockey: Serino Moodley | Trainer: Justin Snaith

African Wild Dog looks the clear standout in the opener in a large field of 14 runners. Rabdan (3-9-4-4) and The Big Bang (3-6-2-3-7) look the most likely dangers in the market. There are six debutants in the field, but the unknown factor among them could lead to an upset in the final photo finish.

African Wild Dog is a 3-yr-old bay gelding who started with a 10/12 place in his first run back in January hitting 5/7 in his second race. His last three runs have brought second place finishes so he’s shown his credentials and I’m backing him to prove his killer instinct to take the win.

Race 2 – Landman (7)

Jockey: Serino Moodley | Trainer: Justin Snaith

Waterfront (5-5-3-3-3) and Havoc (5-4-2) look the main threats if the favourite Landman fails to fire in this largely inexperienced seven-horse race.

The 3-yr-old chestnut colt is out of the sire The United States and Fantastic Trip, which sounds like a great combo. He kicked-off in June with a second place in another seven-horse field and followed that up with a fourth place out of nine. That fourth place gave him the space to show his late pace in impressive form and that has me impressed enough to back him for the win.

Race 5 – Sparkling Star (3)

Jockey: A Domeyer | Trainer: Candice Bass

Sparkling Star looks a major player in Race 5 and is the shortest-priced runner on the card outside the two early favourites. Black Nightshade (1-4) looks the obvious danger, while Meg's Legacy (8-1–10-5-4) and Final Call (1-8-4-3-2-10-1) are locked together behind them in the market, but the latter two have shown some inconsistency along with their winning form.

Sparkling Star is a 3-yr-old bay filly with three races and three Top 3 placings under her belt. She kicked-off with a second place in a field of 13 at Kenilworth in February followed by third place just over a month later. Her last race saw her claim a runaway win, leading by around 10 lengths with 200m to go and coasting home for the win.

Race 7 – Devil A Saint (1)

Jockey: S Veale | Trainer: Des McLachlan

Devil A Saint brings excellent consistency into Race 7, with recent form showing a string of runner-up finishes. The 6-yr-old bay gelding has 14 Top 3 finishes in 39 starts, which isn’t a stunning record, but his recent form has been strong, which has won my confidence. His last 10 runs have been 3-1-2-8-2-10-2-2-2-2, so she looks primed for the top of the podium.

Jet A One (2-4-5–5-3) and Fort Yukon (5-4-3-2-4) look the biggest challengers if Devil A Saint again finds one too strong. Another Hero and Diamond Baron both won their second-last races, while Meet The King has had poor form but has a win in his last five runs (1-7-5-3-7).
