However, their young squad is out of the running for the title this season. The Pumas, on the other hand, need a win here to qualify for the semi-finals. Given their urgency and a recent convincing victory, the prediction is for the Pumas to not only win but also cover the -5.5 handicap, despite the Sharks' recent momentum.

Head to Head
Last season, the Pumas beat the Sharks 31-21 in Durban. When they met two weeks later in Nelspruit the match ended in a cracking 44-44 draw.
Sharks Form
The Sharks are the defending Currie Cup champions but will not defend their title this season. They have had a poor campaign, mainly down to the young squad that has been selected.
In the opening four rounds, the Sharks lost four games straight until they came up against Western Province, another side that had yet to win. The Durban side got over the line 29-21 to get their first win of the season.
A strong start last week against Boland, a newly promoted team but also one that was challenging at the top of the table, gave the Sharks hope. They held on for a 33-31 victory.
Pumas Form
The Pumas are currently fifth on the table with three wins and three defeats. They simply must win this match to qualify for the semi-finals.
Round one started well for the Pumas as they comfortably beat Griquas at home, but they went down away to the Cheetahs the following weekend. Inconsistency has plagued the Nelspruit side this season.
After losing 29-26 at home to Boland a fortnight ago, the Pumas were under pressure last weekend in Cape Town. Fortunately, they came up against a Western Province side that has yet to win this season and took the game 39-13.
