Glasgow vs Ulster Predictions - Glasgow to hand Ulster another away defeat in URC Round 2 clash

Editor
Last updated: 30 minutes ago

Glasgow Warriors head into their home clash against Ulster as clear favourites, riding a wave of form at Scotstoun Stadium and buoyed by their recent comeback win over Munster. Glasgow have won four of their last five home games and three of their last five encounters against Ulster, including a 26-22 victory in Belfast in May. Ulster, meanwhile, are facing defensive challenges and come off a close defeat to Edinburgh. The key recommendation: Glasgow to cover the -13.5 handicap at home.

Glasgow vs Ulster Predictions

Glasgow are clear favourites due to their strong home form at Scotstoun Stadium, and Ulster's defensive struggles coming off an opening-round loss.  Glasgow won their latest encounter 26-22 against Ulster in Belfast in May, giving them psychological and recent statistical momentum. My best bet is Glasgow to cover the -13.5 handicap at home.

  • Glasgow have won 4 of their last 5 home matches.
  • Glasgow have won 3 of the last 5 matches against Ulster.
  • Glasgow defeated Munster 26-20 in their season opening match.
  • Ulster have won 3 of their last 5 away matches.
  • Ulster lost 34-29 to Edinburgh in their 2026/27 opening match.

Head to Head

Glasgow have won three of the last five meetings with Ulster.

Glasgow Form

Glasgow defeated Munster 26-20 in their United Rugby Championship opening match away at Thomond Park.

Glasgow came from behind in the final quarter, after trailing 10-0 at half-time. Jamie Dobie scored two tries on his 100th appearance for the Warriors, helping seal the comeback win. JJ Hanrahan kicked 10 points for Munster, but a late surge and strong bench depth allowed Glasgow to secure the bonus-point victory on the road.

Glasgow have had a strong run of form at home, winning four of their last five home matches in all competitions. Their previous home results include wins against Benetton (31-10), and the Bulls (25-21), followed by a loss against Toulon (22-19), and wins against Cardiff Rugby (40-17), and Connacht (33-21).

Ulster Form

Ulster lost 34-29 to Edinburgh in a thrilling United Rugby Championship opening match at Affidea Stadium in Belfast, after trailing 20-5 at the break.

After Edinburgh had extended their half-time lead to 34-5 by the 49th minute, Ulster mounted a ferocious response, scoring 24 unanswered points in a 10-minute blitz with tries from Zac Ward, David McCann, and Keynan Knox, plus a late penalty by Jack Murphy.

Despite Ulster cutting the gap to five points, late handling inaccuracies and a resolute Edinburgh defence at the death allowed Edinburgh to hold on for the win.

Ulster have had a mixed run of form on the road, winning three of their last five away matches in all competitions. Their previous away results include wins against Edinburgh (40-19), and Zebre (28-12), a loss against Munster (41-14), a win against Edinburgh (28-26), and a loss against Montpellier (59-26).
