India vs West Indies 3rd ODI Predictions - Gill heading for hat-trick of hundreds

Editor
Last updated: 28 minutes ago

India are on course for a 3-0 series sweep against West Indies after consecutive eight-wicket wins. Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma have been outstanding with the bat, and Kuldeep Yadav has impressed with the ball. While the West Indies' batting has shown promise, their bowling hasn't been up to the mark, allowing India to chase down massive totals easily. The New Chandigarh pitch should offer lots of runs again, with early seam movement and later support for spinners. India remain firm favourites for the final ODI.

India vs West Indies Predictions

India look firm favourites for a 3-0 series sweep after winning the first two ODIs both by eight wickets. Evening dew often favours chasing in New Chandigarh, so the captain winning the toss is likely to bowl first and avoid a wet outfield.

  • India’s Shubman Gill has scored 110 & 223* in the 1st 2 ODIs.
  • India’s Rohit Sharma has scores of 138, 32 & 101 in his last 3 innings.
  • India’s Kuldeep Yadav has figures of 4/40 & 2/65 in 2 matches.
  • India have won their last 3 ODIs against the West Indies
  • West Indies’s Amir Jangoo has scored 57*, 58* & 114 in his last 3 matches.
  • West Indies’s John Campbell has scores of 62 & 101 in his last 2 innings.
  • West Indies’s Alzarri Joseph has taken 4/41, 2/27 & 1/81 in his last 5 matches.

Head-to-Head

India have won four of their last five ODIs against the West Indies, including the last three in a row.

India Form

India sealed the series with another dominant eight-wicket win, successfully chasing a massive 406 in just 43.3 overs. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill destroyed the West Indies attack with a 255-run opening partnership, Rohit scoring 101 from 75 balls before Gill produced a stunning unbeaten 223 from 133 deliveries.

That chase was India’s second-highest successful ODI pursuit and underlined the strength of their batting. Gill is in extraordinary form, with 838 runs at an average of 139.67 across his last 10 matches, while Rohit has scored 486 runs in the same period.

The bowling remains less convincing after conceding 405 runs in the West Indies' innings, although Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Gurnoor Brar all bagged a brace of wickets.

West Indies Form

West Indies have already lost the series despite producing an exceptional batting display in the second ODI. They piled up a total of 405 runs with John Campbell, Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo all scoring centuries. I so doing they became the first West Indies trio to achieve that feat in the same ODI innings.

Campbell struck 101 from 68 balls, Hope made 104 from 94 while Jangoo hit 114 from 77. Their performance highlighted the quality and depth of the West Indies' top order.

The major problem remains the bowling. The West Indies were unable to apply sustained pressure as India chased the target with more than six overs to spare. Hope has scored 331 runs in his last 10 ODIs at an average of 41.38, while Campbell has made 266 runs in his last eight matches.

Team News

The New Chandigarh pitch offers good pace and consistent bounce, with early assistance for seamers before becoming better for batting. Spinners may find some grip later, while the 288 first-innings average suggests another high-scoring contest.

India (possible XI): Rohit Sharma, Shubham Gill (c), Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Naman Dhir, Auqib Nabi, Kuldeep Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, Prasidh Krishna

West Indies (possible XI): John Campbell, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (c), Amir Jangoo, Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, Keemo Paul, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales, Vitel Lawes

Verdict

India are huge favourites to win to secure a 3-0 series triumph. Shubman Gill and Kuldeep Yadav are both in incredible form for India, while Amir Jangoo and Alzarri Joseph have performed really well for the visitors.
