Brazil lost heavily last weekend, and I expect something similar this time around. Belgium may not be as good as Samoan, btu they showed their quality against Namibia. I am backing Belgium to cover the -16 handicap.

Belgium have steadily improved as a rugby playing nation over the last few years. They have been more competitive in recent years, however, this advancement to the final of the qualifiers is still a surprise to many.

Over their last seven matches, Belgium have won six, their only defeat coming at the hands of USA. This past weekend, in their first qualifier, Belgium caused a huge upset, beating Namibia 22-15 in Duba.

Brazil Form

Brazil have never previously qualified for the Rugby World Cup. In fact, they have never gotten remotely close to reaching the tournament.

However, rugby, first through sevens and now 15s, Brazil have continued to improve in years gone by. They are now at least competitive with sides that used to walk over them.

To reach the final qualifying hurdle is already a huge achievement and, in all likelihood, that is where it will end. Reaching the 2027 even in Australia will require them to win their last two games and hope someone beats Samoa.

Last week, Brazil lost their opening game 48-10 to Samoa. In fact they have now lost their last five fixture, going down to Chile and Paraguay twice each.
