England vs Australia Women Predictions - England to end pool stage with a big win

Editor
Last updated: 05 Sep 2025

England Women are expected to dominate their World Cup match against Australia, given their unbeaten run in the previous seven encounters and outstanding recent form. England have won their last 15 games and convincingly beaten Australia in their last three meetings. Australia must earn at least one point to advance, relying either on a losing bonus or tries. England have rotated their squad, but key leadership remains. Expect a strong English performance with Australia fighting for survival.

England vs Australia Women Predictions

England shouldn’t be troubled by Australia in terms of the result but the Aussies will have a keen eye on the losing margin. I am backing England Women to cover -45.5.

Head to Head

England have not lost to Australia in their seven previous encounters. They last met in 2023 with England thrashing Australia Women 42-7. In fact, in the last three matches, England have scored 40+ points twice and 50+ once while Australia have only managed to reach 10 points once.

England Form

England Women are the top ranked side in the women’s game and rightly so. They are clear favourites to the title, and it is hard to see anyone who can stop them.

In their opening game of their home World Cup, England thrashed the USA 69-7 before annihilating Samoa 92-3 last weekend. Victory in this fixture will ensure a top place finish for England in Pool A.

England Team News

Alex Matthews will continue as captain with regular captain, Zoe Aldcroft still out with injury. There is a total of 13 changes to the side that England severely rotated for the Samoa clash.

Australia Women Form

The Australian Women’s side have not been in the best of form. This year they have only beaten the USA and Samoa while losing to New Zealand and Canada.

Prior to the World Cup, Australia lost 38-12 to New Zealand before beating USA 27-19. They were then hammered 45-7 by Canada.

In their first World Cup game, the Aussie ladies had little trouble sweeping Samoa aside 73-0. But last week was their crucial game and they could only draw 31-31 against the USA.

That means, Australia must get a point in this game to progress or hope the points difference isn’t wiped out by the combination of scores. That can come in the form of a losing bonus point or four-tries, but if they don’t pick up any points, the USA, who are very likely to pick up five points against Samoa, should qualify.

Australia Women Team News

Siokapesi Palu is back to captain Australia in this crucial fixture. Adiana Talakai also returns to the side to start at hooker.

Verdict

England Women have been dominant for the last couple of years. I am backing them to cover the -47.5 handicap.
