The Irish were always expected to advance alongside New Zealand in this group, but this was aways going to be their biggest test. In their opener, Ireland beat Japan 42-14 before seeing off Spain 43-27 at the weekend.
That latter result will be concerning having allowed the Spanish to score 27 points.
