Mamelodi Sundowns are well-placed to win their second CAF Champions League title after defeating AS FAR Rabat 1-0 in the first leg. With an unbeaten record against AS FAR and strong recent form, Sundowns need only a draw in Morocco to triumph on aggregate. Despite AS FAR's resilience and strong home record, Sundowns' dominance and recovered squad depth give them the edge. Predicted lineups feature a few key absences for both sides, but Sundowns' recent performance suggests they are favorites to lift the trophy.

AS FAR vs Mamelodi Sundowns Predictions

I see both sides scoring in Morocco. Sundowns have enough to draw this match and win the final on aggregate to end a 10-year wait for a CAF Champions League title.

Key Stats – Sundowns Draw to Secure the Crown

  • AS FAR are winless in 3 matches vs Mamelodi Sundowns (2 draws, 1 loss).
  • AS FAR have seen BTTS Yes in 4 of their last 6 matches.
  • Mamelodi Sundowns are undefeated in 11 of their last 12 matches.
  • Mamelodi Sundowns have seen BTTS Yes in 3 of their last 4 matches.

Head to Head – Sundowns Unbeaten in Three Meetings

These clubs have met on three previous occasions.

They met in the 2024-25 Group Stage as both matches ended in 1-1 draws.

In the first leg a week ago, Sundowns beat AS FAR Rabat 1-0 at home.

Just Two Losses in 22 Matches - FAR Rabat are Hard to Beat

AS FAR Rabat currently sit second in the Moroccan Botola Pro. They beat RSB Berkane 2-1 in the CAF semi-finals on aggregate.

A 2-0 win at home was followed by a 1-0 loss on the road in the second leg. Six league matches followed, with three wins and three draws in a busy fixture list.

Last weekend saw a 1-0 loss away to Sundowns in the first leg. They were outshot 11-6 and had just 29% on the ball in South Africa.

League Title Unlikely – But One Hand on CAF crown

Sundowns won 1-0 in the first leg last Sunday. They dominated the match and should have won by more goals, as they look to end a decade-long wait for a second CAF Champions League title.

A 1-1 home draw with Kaizer Chiefs took the title race out of their hands. Sundowns thrashed Siwelele 7-4 but lost 3-2 at TS Galaxy despite having 77% possession.

Last weekend’s first leg vs AS FAR Rabat saw a 1-0 win for Sundowns. They missed some big chances to kill off the tie in the second half.
