Mamelodi Sundowns beat MC Alger 2-0 in Tshwane on Saturday. Below are the player ratings for the Sundowns starting XI and subs as the Brazilians reached the quarter-final stage.

Ronwen Williams: 7

The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper only had a couple of saves to make. However, his distribution was superb and reminded the supporters of Itumeleng Khune.

Khuliso Mudau: 8 - Man of the Match

The speedy fullback was tasked with staying back and cutting out counter attacks. He breezed through the game and looked like a Rolls Royce defender from start to finish.

Grant Kekana: 7

The veteran defender did not put a put wrong defensively. He also kept the ball well and exuded calm on those around him.

Khulumani Ndamane: 7

The young defender had a quiet, uneventful afternoon. He appears to be growing at his level and he brings a good left-footed balance to the party.

Aubrey Modiba: 8

With an assist and another strong showing going forward, Modiba is in his best form for years. He was a candidate for a third straight man of the match award.

Thapelo Morena: 7

The fast wide man brought balance to the team. He held his width and constantly proved an out-ball for the team. He was stretchered off towards the end and is hopefully not injured.

Teboho Mokoena: 7

He focused on his defensive work in this match. We saw him getting stuck into controlled, aggressive tackles. He is slowly getting back to his best level.

Jayden Adams: 7

The midfielder made a third straight start in the double pivot. He did not put a foot wrong and Adams must have impressed the watching Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos.

Arthur Sale: 6

The Brazilian playmaker created the first goal as his shot was parried. He found space well and worked hard, but he did not have a major affect with all the supply he received.

Tashreeq Matthews: 5

The number ten had a quiet game. With just one goal contribution in 13 matches, his confidence looks to be rock bottom. A few games on the bench may be needed.

Brayan Leon: 7

The striker scored two poacher's efforts, worked hard and hassled defenders. With four goals in his outings in a Sundowns shirt, he could hit double figures after being signed in January.

Substitutes:

Marcelo Allende: 6

The Chilean midfielder kept the ball really well and had a hand in the second goal. His presence calmed things down, and credit to coach Miguel Cardoso for introducing Allende.

Themba Zwane: 7

The veteran was pure class in his time on the pitch. MC Alger could not get the ball of "Mshishi" and let's hope his injury woes are behind him now.

Peter Shalulile: 5

The striker only had a few minutes. He ran hard for the team to help protect the lead.
