The Reds lost 1-0 in their next match at Plymouth, then went unbeaten in seven, winning five. Liverpool won four in a row against Man City, Newcastle, PSG and Southampton and Salah scored three in this streak.

Arne Slot’s side lost for just the fifth time this season on Tuesday against PSG in the Champions League. The Reds lost 1-0 at Anfield, taking the game to 1-1 on aggregate, before falling to a 4-1 defeat on penalties.

Defenders Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley are unlikely to feature due to injury.

Mo Salah has scored twice and assisted once in two EFL Cup starts this season. The Liverpool forward has scored 32 goals in all competitions.

Newcastle Form 


Newcastle began their EFL Cup run with a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest but eventually won on penalties. Victories over AFC Wimbledon, Chelsea, Brentford and Arsenal came in the following rounds.

The Toon won just three of their following six games after defeating Arsenal 2-0 in the EFL Cup semi-final. 

Eddie Howe’s side beat Birmingham 3-2, lost 4-0 at Man City and won again at home against Nottingham Forest 4-3. Newcastle then lost 2-0 at Liverpool and drew 1-1 against Brighton in the FA Cup before losing 2-1 in extra time. 

The Magpies edged West Ham to a 1-0 Premier League win on Monday. Both sides had nine shots and Bruno Guimarães fired in the winner with 30 minutes remaining.

Forward Anthony Gordon is suspended.

Defensive trio Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Lewis Hall are set to miss out through injury.
