Rich history in the FA Cup
Chelsea will take the field on Saturday in their 17th FA Cup final, with their most recent appearance coming in 2022, when they lost in the final for the third year running. They have won the Cup eight times in their history.
Manchester City are making their 15th appearance in the FA Cup final overall and have played in the previous three finals, making them the first team ever to appear in four consecutive finals. If they win it will be their eighth FA Cup final win.
Dominating the FA Cup since 2008
Although these two sides have never met in the final, they have dominated the tournament in the last 18 seasons, include the current FA Cup. The two sides appeared in each of the last nine FA Cup finals, but between them they managed just three wins. City managed two wins with Chelsea winning just once in their five finals.
The two sides played in five consecutive finals from 2008/09 to 2012/13. Neither made the final in the following three years, but one of the two sides have played in every final since then, totalling 10 including the 2025/26 final.
