A 3-1 win in Eswatini and a 3-0 home victory against Congo sealed qualification. Guinea-Bissau began their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a 1-1 home draw against Guinea. Joseph Mendes scored an equaliser midway through the second half.

Guinea-Bissau's last match saw a superb 4-2 win in Sudan. Piqueti scored a brace while Frederic Mendy and Mama Balde also found the back of the net.
