Zimbabwe vs South Africa Predictions - Brave Warriors to lose to Bafana in Durban

The upcoming match between Zimbabwe and South Africa is technically a home game for Zimbabwe but will be held in Durban. Historical data and current form strongly favor South Africa, who have a solid track record against Zimbabwe, winning their last three encounters. Zimbabwe's poor form, having lost their last two World Cup qualifiers without scoring, further supports the prediction that South Africa will win to nil. Zimbabwe's squad features key players returning from injuries, while South Africa deals with some suspensions and player withdrawals, but still maintain an advantageous position.

This is a ‘home’ game for Zimbabwe but is taking place in Durban. I’m tipping South Africa to win to nil.

  • Zimbabwe have lost their last 2 World Cup Qualifiers to nil.
  • Zimbabwe are winless in 12 of their last 13 matches.
  • South Africa have won their last 3 matches vs Zimbabwe.
  • South Africa have won 8 of their last 11 matches (Tournament Qualifiers).

Head to Head

South Africa holds a 7-2 advantage over Zimbabwe with one draw in ten meetings.

The nations met in the COSAFA Cup in June 2025 as South Africa won 2-0.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe are winless in their eight World Cup qualifiers (four losses, four draws) and sit bottom of Group C. Their last 13 matches have seen just one win.

After drawing two World Cup qualifiers back in March, they exited the COSAFA Cup in the Group Stages. A 1-1 draw in a friendly international followed in June.

In September’s World Cup qualifiers, they lost 1-0 in both matches. A defeat away to Benin was followed by a home loss to Rwanda.

Zimbabwe Injuries & Team News

Coach Michael Nees has a very strong squad at his disposal. Khama Billiat is back after an injury in attack.

Thando Ngwenya has been on fire for AmaZulu with four goals in his last five matches. Marumo Gallants winger Daniel Msendami has been left out in favour of more experienced players.

Goalkeepers: Washington Arubi, Elvis Chipezeze, Martin Mapisa
Defenders: Brandon Galloway, Munashe Garananga, Teenage Hadebe, Emmanuel Jalai, Divine Lunga, Godknows Murwira, Gerald Takwara, Jordan Zemura
Midfielders: Tawanda Chirewa, Jonah Fabisch, Marshall Munetsi, Knowledge Musona, Marvelous Nakamba
Strikers: Bill Antonio, Khama Billiat, Prince Dube, Terrence Dzvukamanja, Tawanda Maswanhise, Walter Musona, Thando Ngwenya

South Africa Form

South Africa have won eight of their last 11 qualifiers for major tournaments. They were docked three points for fielding a suspended player during their World Cup qualification pursuit.

A 2-0 win over Lesotho in March was awarded as a 3-0 win after Teboho Mokoena started the match despite being suspended. They beat Benin 2-0 away in their next qualifier.

The next 14 fixtures were largely with shadow squads in the CHAN and COSAFA Cups. In September’s WC Qualifiers, Bafana Bafana beat Lesotho 3-0 and drew 1-1 at home to Nigeria.

South Africa Injuries & Team News

Coach Hugo Broos is without the suspended Siyabonga Ngezana in defence. Khuliso Mudau returns to the squad in defence.

Striker Iqraam Rayners has withdrawn due to injury, as has winger Relebohile Mofokeng.

Goalkeepers: Ronwen Williams, Sipho Chaine, Ricardo Goss
Defenders: Khuliso Mudau, Thabang Matuludi, Malibongwe Khoza, Khulumani Ndamane, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Samukelo Kabini, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Thapelo Morena
Midfielders: Teboho Mokoena, Thalente Mbatha, Mduduzi Shabalala, Sipho Mbule, Sphephelo Sithole, Bathusi Aubaas
