Jamus made a solid start to their Kagame Cup campaign after claiming a 2-0 victory over holders Singida Black Stars in their opening fixture. Laurent Ramazani opened the scoring early in the first half while Mario Cherelino added the second after the break.

That was a shock win for Jamus, and it gave them early control of the group. They are now in a good position to qualify and could secure a knockout berth with victory on Tuesday.

While it was surprising to beat the holders, the win is an extension of Jamus’ impressive form this year. The South Sudan team are currently unbeaten in nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Simba Form

Simba began their campaign in Group B with a disappointing 0-0 draw with Mogadishu City. They dominated possession and created multiple scoring opportunities but were wasteful in front of goal.

The Tanzanian Powerhouses will be disappointed with the poor finishing in the opening fixture but will look at the positives of earning their first point. They will now be targeting their first win in the group, which will put them in a great position to qualify.

While Simba would have preferred a win, the draw extended a recent solid run. Steve Barker’s team are now unbeaten in their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Jamus (4-3-3): Majak Mawith; Haniff Wesonga, Jean Benz Ngumbi, Mohamed Kesra, Thomas Etta; Joseph Waithera, Kevin Muhire; Gosim Elenga; George Rodrigue, Joseph Dhata, Laurent Ramazani.

Jamus are likely to stick with the team that started the opening fixture, with Ramazani featuring in attack while Kesra should continue in defence. Cherelino is likely to settle for another cameo appearance despite scoring off the bench in the opening fixture.
