In the upcoming Nedbank Cup clash between Durban City and Chippa United, all eyes are on Durban City's strong home form paired against Chippa's poor away performance. Durban City has won two of their last three matches and boasts six wins in nine home games. Contrastingly, Chippa United struggles with nine losses out of their last thirteen away matches and facing goal-scoring challenges. Recent encounters between the teams showcase one win each. With lineups reinforced by recent signings, Durban City is favored to secure a victory, potentially keeping a clean sheet.

Durban City vs Chippa United Predictions

These clubs met a week ago in the league. I see Durban City continuing their strong home form and winning to zero in this Nedbank Cup clash.

Key Stats – Strong Home Form vs Poor Away Form

  • Durban City have won 2 of their last 3 matches.
  • Durban City have won 6 of their last 9 home matches.
  • Chippa United have lost 9 of their last 13 away matches.
  • Chippa United have failed to score in their last 3 away matches.

Head to Head – One Win Each

These clubs have met on just two previous occasions.

Durban City won 1-0 at home in August, before Chippa won 2-0 in the return fixture in January.

Durban City Form – Two Wins in Three Matches

Durban City sit sixth in the PSL table with 25 points. Coach Gavin Hunt was sacked after a 2-0 home defeat to Orlando Pirates in December.

That loss made it four defeats in six matches in all competitions. A fine 3-0 win followed at struggling Orbit College.

With new coach Sinethemba Badela in place, Durban City beat Polokwane City 1-0 at home after the AFCON break. Their last match saw a 2-0 loss at 15th-placed Chippa United.

Chippa United Form – Two Wins in Two after One Win in 23

Chippa were on a run of one victory in 23 matches. They’ve since won successive fixtures to climb out of the relegation zone.

After losing 2-0 at Orlando Pirates, they drew their last two matches before the AFCON break. A 0-0 stalemate at Siwelele followed a 0-0 home draw vs Kaizer Chiefs as they were outshot 17-6.

Chippa won 1-0 at Orbit College in a key relegation battle. Last Saturday, they beat Durban City 2-0 at home despite being outshot 14-8.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Durban City (4-2-3-1): Keet; Jalai, Gcaba, Mkhize, Mashego; Jurgens, Jodwana; Maseko, Domingo, Magawana; Koapeng.

Durban City have an injury doubt over striker Joslin Kamatuka. Ronaldo Maarman is pushing for a start after arriving from Sekhukhune United.

Left winger Siphiwe Mahlangu has been signed. He is available to make his debut.

Chippa United (4-3-3): Msibi; Madingwana, Majadibodu, Mobara, Modise; Mosele, Kammies, Konqobe; Figuareido, Kwayiba, Matrose.

The Chilli Boys signed Sinoxolo Kwayiba in the transfer window from Orlando Pirates. He scored a brace in the 2-0 win over Durban City as a false nine.

Bongani Sam has been acquired to boost the left back area. Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has seen his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Verdict

I see Durban City winning this match. A win to zero is my predictions, due to Chippa's troubles in scoring goals on the road.
