Pirates ended a 14-year league trophy drought last season. They won 21 of their final 28 league matches and lifted two domestic trophies to make it a treble.

After a 1-1 draw vs Kaizer Chiefs, the pressure was ramping up. They bounced back to win 2-0 at Stellenbosch and 3-0 at Magesi.

Needing just one win to lift the title, they could only draw 0-0 at home to Durban City. They finished the job on the final day as they beat Orbit College 2-0 after two own goals.

Milford FC – Promoted Via the Playoffs

Milford finished third in last season’s Motsepe Foundation Championship. They secured promotion via the PSL relegation/promotion playoffs.

They began the playoffs with a fine 1-0 win at Cape Town City. A 1-0 win over top-placed Betway Premiership finishers Magesi FC followed.

Milford lost 1-0 at home to Cape Town City, but secured promotion in their final playoff match. A 1-1 home draw vs Magesi was enough to see them reach the PSL for the first time in their history.
