Polokwane City vs Stellenbosch Predictions - Low-Scoring Stalemate in PSL

Last updated: 1 hour ago

The upcoming match between Polokwane City and Stellenbosch is expected to be a very tight and low-scoring affair, with both sides struggling for goals and consistent wins. Polokwane City have only netted 21 goals across the last season, while Stellenbosch have failed to score in five of their last six outings. Form and historical data suggest a cautious 0-0 or draw result, with both teams likely to focus on defense. Punters may find value in backing a no-goals, draw outcome.

  • Both teams have poor recent goal-scoring and winning records.
  • Recent encounters and stats suggest a 0-0 or low-scoring draw.
  • Key team changes and injuries may further impact attacking threat.

Polokwane City vs Stellenbosch Predictions

A very tight match awaits. Neither side is scoring many goals in their league encounters nor winning matches regularly. I’m backing a low-scoring draw in this one.

Key Stats – Not Many Goals Likely

  • Polokwane City have drawn 3 of their last 4 PSL matches.
  • Polokwane City have failed to score in 4 of their last 6 PSL matches.
  • Stellenbosch have drawn their last 2 away matches.
  • Stellenbosch have failed to score in 5 of their last 6 matches.

Head to Head – Stellies Hold Lead

Stellies hold a 10-6 advantage over Polokwane City across 19 previous meetings with three draws.

Polokwane won 1-0 at home when the clubs last met in April 2026.

Polokwane Form – One Win in Seven with Five Blanks Fired

Polokwane finished seventh last term with a paltry 21 goals netted in 30 matches. This season began with a league win and a late defeat in the MTN8 cup.

Rise and Shine drew 0-0 at Richards Bay and then 0-0 at Golden Arrows with ten men. Their last match of the 2025-26 season saw a 1-1 home draw vs Marumo Gallants.

They began this season with a fine 2-1 win at Richards Bay as they put up 1.84 xG. On Saturday, they had just 20% possession and were outshot 30-14 in a 3-2 extra-time defeat away at Mamelodi Sundowns.

One Win in Seven – Stellies Struggling in the League

Stellenbosch have just one win to their name in the last seven PSL matches. They have failed to score in five of their last six matches.

A 1-0 loss away to Polokwane City was followed by a 2-0 home defeat to Orlando Pirates. They drew 0-0 away at Durban City and beat Orbit College 2-0 at home.

The final day of last season saw a 0-0 draw at Marumo Gallants. Stellies lost 1-0 to Golden Arrows in their opening match, albeit that ‘home’ fixture was played in Durban.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Polokwane City (4-2-3-1): Ngwenya; Mathosi, Nkaki, Ramaja, Nkwe; Kambala, Maphangule; Dlamini, Mnguni, Modise; Molokwane.

Polokwane will have new signing Tidimalo Molokwane up front after two goals in two matches. Key right back Thabang Matuludi missed the last match for unknown reasons.

Left back Malebogo Modise could be handed a first start after joining the club. Goalkeeper Lindokuhle Mathebula went off injured last time out and will require a late fitness test.

Stellenbosch (4-2-3-1): Stephens; Lebitso, Nhlabathi, Msimango, Mashego; Mthethwa, Matlou; Titus, Kwayiba, Sibande; Du Preez.

Stellies have sold last season’s top scorer Langelihle Phili to Kaizer Chiefs. Given Msimango could make his debut after joining from Chiefs as part of that deal.

Mosa Lebusa is doubtful in defence due to injury. Devin Titus is set to be recalled down the right wing and Ashley Du Preez may be handed a starting berth.

Verdict

I'm backing a draw with BTTS No. A 0-0 full time score represents superb value.
