Roma vs Man United Predictions

There was nothing close about the first leg at Old Trafford as Manchester United won an eight-goal thriller 6-2 last Thursday. They have one foot in the door of the UEFA Europa League final. United had the weekend off after the postponement of their game against Liverpool. Roma, on the other hand, are beset with injuries and are there for the taking, so I'm backing a Red Devils win.

Manchester United are unbeaten in the last six meetings against Roma, winning five of them including in last week's first leg.

Roma led 2-1 at the break after goals from Lorenzo Pellegrini and Edin Dzeko following Bruno Fernandes' opener for United.

But a five-goal second half from the Red Devils saw two goals from Edinson Cavani, a Fernandes penalty, a Paul Pogba goal and one from Mason Greenwood.

Roma are without a win in their last six matches with Paulo Fonseca’s side riddled with injuries.

Last week's 6-2 first-leg defeat at Old Trafford forms part of a run of three straight defeats.

Roma went down 3-2 away to Cagliari before the trip to Manchester, and were beaten 2-0 at Sampdoria in Serie A on Sunday.

The winless run also includes a 1-1 draw with Ajax in the Europa League, a 1-1 Serie A stalemate with Atalanta and a 3-1 loss to Torino in the league.

Roma are hit by injuries. Pau Lopez, Jordan Veretout and Leonardo Spinazzola were all forced off in the defeat to Man United.

Goalkeeper Lopez is out for the season, while midfielders Veretout and Spinazzola are expected to miss out once again.

Long-term absentee Nicolo Zaniolo is another midfielder sidelined by injury, and midfielder Stephan El Shaarawy and winger Pedro also remain out.

Left-back Riccardo Calafiori is not expected to be fit enough to return.

Antonio Mirante and Daniel Fuzato have both made mistakes in goal in the last two games, and Paulo Fonseca must decide on which understudy to play.

The postponement of Sunday's Premier League game against Liverpool means United slipped to 13 points behind rivals Manchester City at the top of the table.
