The World No.2 was on target for an easy win in the Australian Open first round, leading 6-2 6-1 when Hugo Gaston retired. He beat James Duckworth 6-1 6-4 6-2 in under two hours.

The Italian was in trouble in the third round before beating Eliot Spizzirri in 4 sets. The extreme heat policy helped Sinner overcome cramp and maintain his winning streak.
