Swiatek has some good results but is quite clearly not at her best while Rybakina has showed steady progress. I'm backing Rybakina to advance as my best bet.

Elena Rybakina is on a seven-match win streak vs top-10 players.
She is 3–3 in Slam quarterfinals.
Iga Swiatek has lost three of her last four Slam matches vs top-10 opponents.
She is 2–0 in Australian Open quarterfinals.

Head to Head

Iga Swiatek leads this tight battle with six wins and five losses in 11 matches. When they met in 2025, Rybakina won, a match played on indoor hard court. Swiatek won the four matches prior to that.

Rybakina Form

Elena Rybakina stormed into the Australian Open quarterfinals with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win over Elise Mertens. She dropped the fewest games of her tournament so far.

The Kazakh was sharp throughout, firing 10 aces and striking 32 winners to wrap up the match quickly.

This marks the fourth time Rybakina has reached a Grand Slam quarterfinal without dropping a set. It is also her first major quarterfinal since Wimbledon 2024.

Overall, this is her seventh Grand Slam quarterfinal, where she holds a 3–3 record. Her only previous hard-court Slam quarterfinal came here in Melbourne in 2023, a run that ended in the final.

Swiatek Form

Iga Swiatek silenced the home crowd by ending Maddison Inglis’ breakthrough run with a commanding 6-0, 6-3 win. The opening bagel was the 33rd of her Grand Slam career, though she did drop serve once.

The victory sends Swiatek into her third Australian Open quarterfinal, having previously reached this stage in 2022 and 2025.

With this run, she has now recorded 50 wins in hard-court Grand Slams and become the youngest player since Serena Williams to reach six consecutive major quarterfinals.

Swiatek owns a 9–4 record in Grand Slam quarterfinals, including a 3–2 mark on hard courts. Notably, she has won both of her previous Australian Open quarterfinal matches.

Verdict

Elena Rybakina v Iga Swiatek

This matchup trends in Rybakina’s favor based on current form. While Swiatek remains a top competitor, her recent difficulties in closing matches open the door for Rybakina, who has been operating at a higher and more stable level.
