The San Francisco Unicorns ended their group stage commitments on top of the table with 12 points after a six-wicket win over the Orcas in their final match, with the other playoff places going to the Los Angeles Knight Riders, defending champs MI New York and the Washington Freedom.
The Knight Riders and MI New York also ended on 12 points but both had inferior net run rates compared to the Unicorns. The Freedom ended the group stage level on 10 points each.
The Seattle Orcas finished outside of the playoff places in 5th place on eight points, while the Texas Super Kings lost seven of their 10 matches to finish last on six points.
