Surrey’s success has been achieved thanks to contributions from throughout the squad, while much of Somerset’s success is on the back of Rilee Rossouw’s golden form with the bat.

Somerset have won three of the last five matches between the sides, with Surrey picking up two wins. In their most recent match in 2021, Somerset won by seven wickets.

Surrey scored 146/8 off their 20 overs, with opener Will Jacks setting the pace with a speedy 65, but none of his team-mates could reach 20 as the innings tailed off, Jack Leach taking 3/28.

In response, James Hildreth (72*) and Will Smeed (42) shared a 103-run second wicket stand which set up a Somerset victory with eight balls to spare.

Surrey Form

Surrey have been in superb form, winning their last four matches on the bounce, with the previous match abandoned due to bad weather.

Surrey’s last match was one of their narrowest wins this season, perhaps influenced by the absence of Jason Roy on international duty. Hampshire scored 151/7 off their 20 overs, with Jamie Overton picking up 2/21.

Without any batter dominating the innings, Surrey stretched their chase into the last over, with the winning runs coming with just five balls to spare. Kieron Pollard top-scored with a lusty 34 to power Surrey to the win.

Somerset Form

Somerset have won four of their last five matches, along with suffering a 32-run loss to Kent.

Their most recent match was against high-flying Essex, who posted a challenging 188/5 off their 20 overs, Jack Brooks taking 2/23. Somerset made mince-meat of the target, racing to 194/2 off just 17.3 overs to claim a truly superb victory.

Skipper Tom Abell scored a magnificent 62* to take his side to victory, but the match-winning performance was truly Rilee Rossouw’s phenomenal 85* off just 36 balls that raised the roof and which has elevated him into the league of the world’s most dangerous T20 batters.

It’s a power clash, but Somerset’s strong form against Surrey, Rilee Rossouw’s incredible form with the bat and the absence of Jason Roy all swing the odds in favour of a Somerset win. I am backing Rossouw to continue his fine form with the bat by scoring 50+.
