India vs Netherlands Predictions

India have had three perfect wins to top Group A. The Netherlands have played some good cricket but have just one win under their belt. They could squeak into the Super 8s on net run rate with a strong win over India… providing Pakistan lose to Namibia. With the Netherlands throwing everything at India, I see the perfect opportunity for India to drive a nail into the Netherlands’ World Cup coffin. It’s four wins for India in my book.

Ishan Kishan (77 off 40) and Tilak Varma (25 off 24) added 87 for the second wicket in under eight overs. Suryakumar Yadav kept the scoreboard ticking with 32 runs off 29 balls, while Shivam Dube smacked four boundaries in his 17-ball 27 at the end of their innings.

Jasprit Bumrah cut through the Pakistan top order, picking up 2/17 as Pakistan collapsed to 34/4. They staged a mini-recovery but ended up being rolled for 114 off 18 overs. Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy each picked up two wickets.

Netherlands Form

After picking up their first win of the tournament against Namibia, the Netherlands slipped to a second defeat when they lost to the USA by 93 runs.

Speaking during his post-match press conference, India captain Suryakumar Yadav had high praise for India’s star batter in this World Cup so far, Ishan Kishan.

“We played the same brand of cricket we wanted to play. The way Ishan batted, he thought something out of the box. At 0/1 someone needed to take responsibility and he did that amazingly. There was a bit of a slump but that is the beauty of t20 cricket,” said Yadav.

Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards admitted during the post-match interview that the USA had scored a lot more than they were hoping to concede.

“The USA put us under pressure but we dragged it back alright at the end. It was obviously quite a good pitch, but we never really got going and just kept losing wickets. We didn't get it right today,” said Edwards.
