India’s loss to Sri Lanka in the Women’s Asia Cup final was a bitter blow, and was followed by a loss to New Zealand in their opening match in the World Cup. Their big win over Pakistan in their second match looks to have settled them and they should be able to beat Sri Lanka with ease, although they do need their batters to really step up to the plate.

India bowled superbly to limit Pakistan to 105/8 off their 20 overs, with Arundhati Reddy (3/19, econ) the pick of the bowling.

Shafali Verma got the India innings off to a solid start with 32 off 35 balls as India rode comfortably to a six-wicket win with seven balls in hand.

Sri Lanka Women Form


Sri  Lanka have lost their last three matches on the bounce by sizeable margins and are not looking in good form.

Nilakshika Silva (29*) top-scored to lift Sri Lanka out of despair at 25/3 but, without any substantial support, Sri Lanka were limited to 93/7 off their 20 overs.

Udeshika Prabodhani (1/19, econ 6.33) made a key early breakthrough and the Sri Lanka bowlers made Australia work hard for their win, which they achieved with six wickets in hand and 5.4 overs to spare.
