Breeders' Cup Friday Racing Tips - 30 October 2026

Last updated: 16 minutes ago

Friday's racing at Keeneland features several notable selections. Emphatic is tipped for Race 7 after her unbeaten run and Grade 1 Alcibiades win over the same course and distance, giving her a proven advantage in the Juvenile Fillies. Libertango is preferred in the Juvenile Turf Sprint for her strong British Group form, while Sun Goddess is favoured in the Juvenile Fillies Turf, though her stamina over a mile is untested. Hughes is the choice in the Juvenile after four wins, and How's Al Today is selected in the Juvenile Turf for his recent Kentucky Downs victories.

  • Emphatic offers the strongest combination of unbeaten form and demonstrated Keeneland suitability.
  • Libertango has a strong European form line for the opening Turf Sprint.
  • Hughes is the standout dirt juvenile but is also one of the shortest-priced choices.
  • How’s Al Today has value appeal in a difficult Juvenile Turf field.

Best Bet of the Day - Keeneland Friday

Race 6 - Libertango (3)

Jockey: Flavien Prat   |   Trainer: George Boughey
The Juvenile Turf Sprint over 5½ furlongs opens the championship programme with European and American speedsters in a fascinating clash. Libertango brings Group-race credentials from Britain and was only a length behind Sun Goddess in the Cheveley Park Stakes, a strong piece of form given the winner’s standing among Europe’s two-year-olds.

The George Boughey-trained filly starts from gate three and has Flavien Prat aboard, an encouraging combination for a fast turf contest in which early position will be crucial. The unbeaten Brickyard Belle has a sharp turn of foot, while Primetime Emmy poses a danger from a wider draw. Libertango is preferred at a 3.5 morning line.

Race 7 - Emphatic (10)

Jockey: Tyler Gaffalione   |   Trainer: Brendan Walsh
The $2-million Juvenile Fillies pits two unbeaten rivals against each other. Emphatic has won all three starts, most recently the Grade 1 Alcibiades at Keeneland when she made the running and proved too strong over this very 1 1/16-mile distance. The course experience is a significant advantage in a championship filled with young, still-developing horses.

Miss Monica, trained by Bob Baffert, has been exceptional in two starts and landed the Del Mar Debutante by a wide margin. She has not yet shown what she can do around two turns, however. Emphatic’s proven local form makes her the selection, with Miss Monica the main threat.

Race 8 - Sun Goddess (9)

Jockey: Ryan Moore   |   Trainer: Aidan O'Brien
The Juvenile Fillies Turf over a mile contains perhaps the most accomplished European juvenile on Friday’s card. Sun Goddess has won three Group 1 races and arrives with an imposing profile for the Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore partnership. The concern is that elite sprint form must now be translated into success over a longer distance and around American turns.

Amusingly is the obvious danger on the published market, while Domestic Agenda is another who can enter calculations if the race develops into a tactical test. At a 2.0 morning line, Sun Goddess is a worthy favourite but her price leaves limited room for an uncertain pace scenario.

Race 9 - Hughes (5)

Jockey: Flavien Prat   |   Trainer: Bob Baffert
The $2-million Juvenile is the headline event on Future Stars Friday, with Hughes bidding to remain unbeaten after four victories. His record includes the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity in September and the American Pharoah Stakes in October, establishing him as the leading dirt juvenile in the field.

Baffert has a formidable record in this event and the colt’s progression makes the 1 1/16-mile assignment an appealing next challenge. Coach Pope and American History offer opposition worth respecting, while Salahudin supplies further depth. Hughes is the most likely winner although the even-money morning line is not particularly tempting.

Race 10 - How's Al Today (5)

Jockey: Brian Hernandez Jr.   |   Trainer: Riley Mott
The final championship on Friday is the mile-long Juvenile Turf. How’s Al Today has won three of four starts and comes off two turf victories at Kentucky Downs, where he produced a strong turn of foot to take the Juvenile Mile by 4½ lengths. That versatility and his American race experience make him a persuasive selection.

However, the international challenge is substantial. Folsom Blues arrives for Joseph O’Brien and is priced at 7-2, while Aidan O’Brien fields a group including Great Barrier Reef and Haffner. The selection is How’s Al To-day at a 4.0 morning line, with Folsom Blues an appealing alternative.

Verdict

Friday's racing at Keeneland has some tight races but I'm backing Libertango, Emphatic, Sun Goddess, Hughes and How's Al Today for the wins.
