The 3-yr-old Shining Sun looks the one to beat in the opener after three career runs produced form figures of 6-3-3. He has placed third in his last two races at Turffontein and is strongly favoured to hold off Brief Encounter and Forever Canford.

Race 3 – Whatsdamatterwithu

Jockey: Calvin Habib | Trainer: C. Binda

The 3-yr-old Whatsdamatterwithu comes into Race 3 in excellent form after back-to-back Turffontein wins in July. Time Will Tell, Banyan, Ice Dragon and Caladrius are all close together behind him in the market, but Whatsdamatterwithu looks the clear headline pick

Race 4 – Time Is Precious

Jockey: Rachel Venniker | J. J. van Vuuren

The 3-yr-old Time Is Precious looks the Best Bet of the Day after a strong run of 3-1-1-1-6. She reeled off three wins from late January to late April before finishing sixth at Scottsville in May, and the early odds suggest she can bounce back strongly. Trompe L'oeil and It's Personal look like the main dangers.

Race 9 – Guerilla Warfare

Jockey: Philasande Mxoli | Trainer: S. J. Gray The 5-yr-old Guerilla Warfare looks a strong pick in the final race after recent Turffontein form of 1-3. He won over 1m 1f 207y at Turffontein in July before following up with a third at the same track in August. Kudzu, Orange County and Art Nouveau look the biggest challengers.
