Samoa recently secured their place at the Rugby World Cup in 2027 after going unbeaten at the Final Qualification Tournament in Dubai in November last year. 

Manu Samoa thumped Brazil 48-10 and beat Namibia 26-8 before drawing with Belgium in the final match.

At the 2025 Pacific Nations Cup, Samoa lost 30-16 to Tonga and 29-15 to Fiji during the group stages of the tournament, and then lost 29-13 to the USA in the fifth-place playoff match.

Samoa will fancy their chances of opening their World Rugby Nations Cup campaign with a victory against Hong Kong China after their recent performances, having gone unbeaten in their last three fixtures. 

Hong Kong China Form 


Hong Kong China won the recent Asia Rugby Championship in June after edging Sri Lanka 15-14 and thrashing South Korea 49-5.

Before that, the Dragons faced Portugal in an international friendly in November last year, losing 58-12.

Hong Kong China have been in decent nick lately, but will not find the going easy against Samoa, as their opponents recently qualified for the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
