Fluminense have been a surprise package at the CWC thus far, although, so has their opponents. The Brazilian side advanced from the group stage with two draws and a victory.

In their opener, Fluminense drew 0-0 with Dortmund and also drew their final group game 0-0 against Sundowns. In between those draws, they beat Ulsan 4-2.

That was pretty good from Fluminense but their big performance came in the round of 16 where they defeated Inter Milan 2-0. German Cano and Hercules were on target.

Simone Inzaghi recently took charge of Al Hilal, his first match in charge coming at the Club World Cup. It ended in a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid, Rúben Neves equalising from the penalty spot and Yassine Bounou saving a penalty in added time.

The Saudi side drew 0-0 against Salzburg in the second round, followed by a 2-0 win against Pachuca to book their spot in the playoffs. Salem Al Dawsari broke the deadlock, while Marcos Leonardo found the net in stoppage time.

Al Hilal caused a massive upset in the Round of 16 by eliminating Manchester City 4-3 in extra-time. Marcos Leonardo was man of the match scoring a brace, Kalidou Koulibaly and Malcom also on target.
