The first Betway Premiership Monthly Awards of the 2026/27 season have produced three standout winners following an impressive opening month of action.

AmaZulu forward Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya, Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Brayan Leon were recognised for their performances in August.

Ngwenya Wins Player of the Month

Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has been rewarded for a prolific start to the season after being named the Betway Premiership Player of the Month for August. The AmaZulu striker found the net five times in four appearances, as the Durban-based club climbed into fourth position on the league table.

The 23-year-old Zimbabwe international has also taken an early lead in the Premiership scoring race following his impressive run of form. Ngwenya beat TS Galaxy's Victor Letsoalo and Orlando Pirates defender Lebone Seema to claim the individual award.

Ouaddou Wins Coach of the Month

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has been named the Betway Premiership Coach of the Month after overseeing an unbeaten opening to the campaign. The defending champions recorded three victories and one draw from their first four league matches under the Moroccan coach.

The award continues Ouaddou's strong run after he also claimed the final Premiership Coach of the Month honour of the previous season in May. His latest recognition reflects the positive start Pirates have made as they begin their title defence.

Brayan Leon Wins Goal of the Month

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Brayan Leon has claimed the Betway Premiership Goal of the Month award for August following his outstanding volley against AmaZulu. The Colombian produced a composed and clinical finish that stood out among the goals scored during the opening month of the season.

Leon faced competition from his Sundowns teammate Teboho Mokoena, whose free-kick in the same fixture was also nominated for the award. Siwelele FC forward Vincent Pule was another contender after scoring an impressive goal against TS Galaxy, but Leon's volley ultimately took the honour.
