PSL Player of the Season 2025-26 Shortlist
As the Premier Soccer League season nears its completion, we look at six candidates for the Player of the Season Award.
Rele Mofokoeng (Orlando Pirates)
The Pirates man has 10 goals and seven assists. He has exploded since the mid-season break in a number ten role. It will be difficult for anyone to come close to him. He has created 14 big chances and 77 opportunities overall, both division highs.
Oswin Appollis (Orlando Pirates)
With 12 big chances created and 52 shot assists overall, he is only better than teammate Mofokeng. His arrival from Polokwane City before this season was a masterstroke by the club.
Brandon Petersen (Kaizer Chiefs)
The Amakhosi goalkeeper barely got a game in the 2024-25 season. This term, he has been made captain of Kaizer Chiefs and has kept 13 clean sheets in the league. He may have made only have made 34 saves, but his leadership and calm presence have been key to his club.
Sede Dion (Golden Arrows)
For a striker from a club like Arrows to score 13 goals from 1,786 minutes is a superb return. He has 11 goals from inside the box and two from outside the 18-yard area. With just one striker coming from the penalty spot, he looks favourite to clinch the Golden Boot.
Khuliso Mudau (Mamelodi Sundowns)
The right back has been a model of consistency. With two penalties won and four big chances created, he is very capable of joining the attack from deep. However, few wingers caused him real problems as he was dribbled past on just two occasions.
Deon Hotto (Orlando Pirates)
The Bucs left back has been a superb attacking weapon. With a league-high eight assists and nine big chances created, he is very hard to stop on the overlap. His last eight league games - correct as at 29 April - have seen five goals created. He has also made 28 tackles and 13 interceptions.
