Bayern certainly have the edge after winning 2-1 in Madrid last week. Returning home, it would take a major performance from Real Madrid to pull this one off. There should be goals in this fixture but Bayern will have enough to win in the end.

Head to Head

Historically this is a very tight one to call with Bayern winning 13 of their 29 matches against Read Madrid while the Spaniards have won 12 along with four draws.

Bayern Munich Form

Bayern Munich are on fire, winning 12 of their previous 13 matches. They have scored 2+ goals in all of those victories and remain on target to win three titles.

The Bavarians won 2-1 at Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals last week. Both teams had 20 shots, the German club holding on after goals to Luis Diaz and Harry Kane established a 2-0 lead.

Vincent Kompany’s side returned to the Bundesliga with a 5-0 win at St. Pauli. It was another dominant performance that extended Bayern’s lead at the top to 12 points with five games remaining.

The manager talked about the squad spirit after the victory: "I know it’s always easier when you’re winning, I’m not naive about that. But I still think we try everything to truly be a family.

"We’re doing well today, but we did this even when things weren’t going so well. That gives me the feeling that maybe that’s exactly why we’re achieving what we’re currently doing.

"Not always with the same starting eleven, but with a whole team that is competitive and supports each other."

Real Madrid Form

Real Madrid haven’t won in three games and are on the verge of missing out on a trophy. They lost 2-1 at Mallorca after conceding in added time.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s side had a slow start against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week. Trailing 2-0 just after half time, Kylian Mbappé got a goal back as they ended with 2.20-2.92 xG in a 2-1 defeat.

Los Blancos drew 1-1 against Girona on Friday to slip nine points behind Barcelona in La Liga. They had 9-2 shots on target and 2.31-0.52 xG, Mbappé and Vinicius Junior taking five shots each.

The manager thought his side should have been awarded a penalty for a foul on Mbappé: "For me, it’s a penalty here and on the moon. It’s just another one, another week. It’s what we have, and that’s the situation.

"I don’t understand it, and I don’t think anyone understands when VAR intervenes. I imagine it’s convenient at times, and when it’s not, it doesn’t. These incidents only reinforce my opinion.

"An action that, for me, was very clear. Mbappé was called for a foul that seemed less significant to me. We’ve had many issues with referees. With this one, last week in Mallorca... it’s the same story."
