Manchester United, unbeaten at home in the Europa League this season, face Athletic Bilbao in what promises to be a decisive clash at Old Trafford. United, who recently secured a 3-0 victory over Bilbao, are favorites to win, despite a dip in their Premier League form. Key players like Lisandro Martínez are unavailable, but the team's overall home strength remains formidable. Athletic Bilbao enters the match with recent struggles and will be without key players due to injuries and suspensions.

  • Man United won 3-0 against Bilbao last week.
  • Athletic Bilbao have lost 2 of their previous 4 matches.

Head to Head

Athletic Bilbao have won three of their five games against Manchester United, however, United were 3-0 winners in Spain last week.

Man United Form

Ruben Amorim’s Man United are undefeated in the 2024/25 Europa League. They have won seven of their last 10 games and four victories have come at Old Trafford.

United drew 2-2 with Lyon during their last home Europa League game and eventually won 5-4 after extra time. A 1-0 defeat at Wolves and a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth followed before United thrashed Athletic Bilbao 3-0.

The Red Devils couldn’t carry winning momentum into the Premier League and lost 4-3 at Brentford. Mason Mount scored first and United conceded three before Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo scored late.

Man United Injuries & Team News

Forward Chido Obi isn’t registered to feature in the Europa League.

Defenders Lisandro Martínez, Diogo Dalot and Matthijs de Ligt are ruled out.

Attacker Joshua Zirkzee and Toby Collyer are also unavailable due to injury.

Athletic Bilbao Form

Athletic Bilbao were on an eight-match unbeaten run before a recent dip in form. The La Liga outfit have failed to win in three of their last four matches.

This patchy run began with a 1-0 defeat at Real Madrid. The Lions then beat Las Palmas 1-0 and lost 3-0 at home against Man United in the Europa League.

Ernesto Valverde’s side played out a goalless draw at Real Sociedad on Sunday. Bilbao had just three shots, 40% possession and held out for a point.

Athletic Bilbao Injuries & Team News

Defender Dani Vivian is suspended.

Midfielder Oihan Sancet is injured and won’t feature on Thursday.

Verdict

Man United are in solid Europa League form and can defeat Athletic Bilbao at Old Trafford. There is value on a Red Devils home victory in the semi-final second leg.
